Eric Proctor or know as TsaoShin in DeviantArt is a US-based digital artist that re-imagines a world of fantasy and fairy tales through his colorful digital paintings. He is a concept illustrator for a research laboratory but a digital painter by night. And his biggest source of inspiration is Disney, also his cat Grendel was his model in many of his fantasy illustrations around his look and behavior. Also he is in love with myths, magic, and tend to be drawn into media that serves up lots of dragons and monsters
He has transformed the usual ferocious dragons and monsters into unique and adorable little characters everyone love. And he manages to maintain the “hand-made” look and feel in his digital drawings because of his background in traditional painting. When he paints digitally, he try to approach his compositions the same way he would in an oil painting. He likes to establish his palette early and block in lights and shadows with large brushes, and try to allow many of the rough sketched in areas to survive through the detail process because he likes having the brush strokes visible in areas where he needs textures.
I like Eric’s Proctor’s work because his style is cartoon-like. And he was the one who made the ongoing series of Grumpy Cat and Disney crossover that is viral online. Also he wants to make sure his artwork translate that joy to his audience. And I like how his arts are unique. And I also like dragons and myths.
